The Mission of Lutheran Churches (MLC) is a Christ-centred organisation supporting Lutheran congregations across Southern Africa.
Founded in cooperation with our long-standing partner, the Bleckmar Mission (LKM) in Germany, we exist to serve the Church by training pastors, supporting congregations, and advancing the Gospel through theological education and diaconal care.
Our work is carried out in partnership with the Lutheran Church in Southern Africa (LCSA) and the Free Evangelical Lutheran Synod in South Africa (FELSISA), as well as congregations in Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and beyond.

We support Lutheran theological education through our seminary in Pretoria and mission training programmes across the region.

From large city churches to rural mission stations, we help strengthen congregations through preaching, teaching, and practical outreach.

Our mercy work includes food security, pre-schools, orphan care and community upliftment grounded in the love of Christ.

We work across borders with churches in Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Germany—united in our confession and committed to Christ’s mission.
Our mission flows from the Gospel we preach, shaping how we teach, support, and serve. Every congregation, classroom, and outreach effort is guided by Scripture and driven by compassion. Whether in rural mission stations or city churches, we walk alongside local leaders to help build faithful Lutheran communities that reflect Christ’s love and truth.
We don’t choose the easiest places — we go where Christ sends us. Sometimes that means planting seeds in dry soil, other times it means harvesting where others have sown. But always, it means trusting that the Gospel will do its work.
We invest in deep, lasting mission work—training leaders, strengthening congregations and building ministries that serve both spiritual and physical needs. Through theological education, mercy outreach and close partnerships, we help the Church grow where it’s needed most.
